Screened Topsoil, Compost & Garden Soil in Connecticut
Every soil product we sell is produced, screened, and blended on-site at our CT DEEP permitted facility in Milford. Pickup or delivery across Fairfield County, New Haven County, and much of Connecticut.
Our Milford facility — topsoil screening in the foreground, bulk material stockpiles behind. This is where every soil product we sell is produced.
Screened Topsoil
A blend of native Connecticut farm loam and organic leaf compost, screened to 1/2". Dark, rich, easy to spread, and it supports strong root development. The loam gives it structure. The compost adds organic matter, color, and workability. This is the all-purpose soil for most outdoor projects.
Best For
New lawns, seed prep, sod base, finish grading, leveling, filling low spots, planting beds, and any project where you need clean, workable soil that supports growth.
Screened Compost
Pure organic compost produced from locally collected leaves and clean yard waste at our CT DEEP permitted facility. Screened to 1/2" for a smooth, consistent texture. No sewage sludge, no municipal waste — just decomposed organic material ready to enrich your soil.
Best For
Soil amendment for gardens and beds, enriching existing soil, lawn topdressing after aeration, boosting organic matter, and improving water retention and soil biology.
Organic leaf compost produced at our facility — the foundation ingredient in our topsoil and garden mix blends.
Organic Garden Mix
A 50/50 blend of screened topsoil and organic compost with 9-0-5 slow release organic fertilizer already mixed in. This is a ready-to-plant growing medium — no need to buy soil, compost, and fertilizer separately and blend them yourself.
Best For
Raised beds, vegetable gardens, flower beds, herb gardens, and any planting area where you want the richest possible growing conditions right out of the pile.
Top Dress Mix
A custom lawn blend — 4 parts screened topsoil, 3 parts coarse sand, 1 part peat moss. Built specifically for turf work. The sand improves drainage and reduces compaction, the peat regulates moisture, and the topsoil provides nutrients. Spreads smooth and settles into turf without smothering grass.
Best For
Lawn topdressing, overseeding prep, leveling minor low spots, turf renovation, and ongoing lawn maintenance. This is what golf courses and professional landscapers use.
Screened Fill
Subsoil screened to 5/8" or smaller — no large rocks, easy to handle and spread. This is not a growing medium — it's a structural base material for projects where you need volume without the cost of topsoil.
Best For
Raising grade, filling low areas, backfilling, and base layers before topsoil. Use screened fill for the bottom, topsoil for the top — save money without sacrificing the finished result.

Shop Bulk CompostHow We Make Our Topsoil & Compost
We don't buy topsoil from someone else and resell it. We produce compost from locally collected organic material, screen it, blend it with native farm loam, and deliver the finished product — all from one facility.
Compost
Locally collected leaves and clean yard waste are brought to our CT DEEP permitted facility and processed through a managed aerobic composting cycle. The material is turned, monitored, and cured until it breaks down into dark, stable, nutrient-rich organic compost — the foundation of everything we make.
Screen
Finished compost and raw farm loam are screened through our equipment to remove rocks, roots, and debris. What comes off the belt is clean, consistent material screened to 1/2" — smooth enough to rake flat and fine enough to spread evenly.
Blend & Stockpile
Screened farm loam and screened compost are blended to produce our finished topsoil. Our garden mix takes it further with a 50/50 ratio and 9-0-5 organic fertilizer blended in. Finished products are stockpiled and ready for pickup or delivery year-round.
Every yard of topsoil and compost we sell starts right here — produced, screened, and blended at our own facility. Not brokered, not resold, not sourced from an unknown pile.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between topsoil and compost?
Topsoil is a blended growing medium (farm loam + compost) that you use as a standalone surface layer — for lawns, grading, and planting. Compost is a pure organic amendment you mix into existing soil to enrich it. Topsoil is the finished product. Compost is the ingredient.
What's the difference between topsoil and garden mix?
Topsoil is best for lawns, grading, and general projects. Garden mix is a 50/50 blend of topsoil and compost with 9-0-5 organic fertilizer built in — designed specifically for planting beds, raised beds, and vegetable gardens. If you're growing food or flowers, garden mix is the better choice.
Do I need topsoil or fill?
If you're raising grade by more than a few inches, use screened fill for the base and topsoil as the finish layer. That's usually smarter and more cost-effective than using topsoil all the way down. Call (203) 877-5070 and we'll help you figure out the right combination.
What is your topsoil screened to?
Our topsoil, compost, and garden mix are all screened to 1/2". Rocks, roots, and debris are removed. What you get is a smooth, consistent material that spreads evenly and rakes flat.
Is your compost organic?
Yes. Our compost is produced from locally collected leaves and clean yard waste — no sewage sludge, no municipal waste, no synthetic inputs. Processed at our CT DEEP permitted facility through a managed aerobic composting cycle.
Do you deliver soil products?
Yes — across Fairfield County, New Haven County, and much of Connecticut, plus Westchester County, NY. Select your town at checkout and the delivery rate is applied automatically. View delivery rates.
Do you offer bulk loads?
Yes. We offer 20-yard tri-axle loads of topsoil, garden mix, and compost. Fuel surcharge applied at checkout.
Can I pick up instead of delivery?
Yes. Our Milford yard at 1183 Oronoque Road is open during regular business hours. Drive in and we'll load your truck or trailer. Check hours and directions.
Do you offer custom soil blends?
Yes. If you need a specific ratio of topsoil, compost, sand, or other materials, visit our custom soil page or call to discuss your requirements.
